The Andover 4th of July Committee has announced that the 2021 celebrations are moving ahead. Updates on the plans can be found on the Andover 4th of July Facebook Page or by checking in with chairman Jake Riehle or co-chair Brian Perkins.
The schedule of events includes a July 4rd parade with line up at 3pm and the parade at 4pm. Vendors and Entertainment will follow at the Legion Park on West Greenwood St. Off the Wagon will be performing from 4-8pm and Long Shot will be performing 8-10pm. Vendors are still TBD, and if you're interested in being a vendor or performing your hula-hoop act (or juggling) do get in touch with Jake or Brian.
Fireworks will take place at dusk to celebrate our nation's independence in style. Everyone knows that Andover always puts on the best show and we're sure this year will be no different. The fireworks will be set off from the Joyce's house on T Joe Lynch Hill and should be visible from most places in the village.
Before you ask, yes, in past years the entertainment and fireworks have been held at the school grounds, but due to ongoing restrictions ACS was unable to give permission for use of the grounds. No amount of wishing it were different is going to change that fact, but on the bright side...when was the last time you went to Legion Park? Don't we all have fond memories of getting ice cream out of car trunks on Memorial Day at Legion Park after the parade? Sure you do. It'll be great.
If you don't love something about this year's planned festivities there is always next year and I hear the committee is looking for volunteers. The best way to make change in your community is by volunteering your time and putting in the work. Not into volunteering, but love contributing to the community? You can mail the 4th of July committee a check at ATTN 4th of July Committee, PO Box 431, Andover, NY 14806. The more money you give them the more things they blow up. It's an excellent investment of your funds.
